Applications open for 4000 Talents studio residency

Applications are now open for two one-month studio residencies at Brisbane, Meanjin-based 4000 Studios.

Successful applicants receive free access to a fully-equipped music production studio, mentoring and creation of professional assets.

4000 Talents encourages applicants who represent the diverse cultures that make up Australia’s music community.

We are thrilled to continue our partnership with 4000 Studios and are launching another round of 4000 Talents. This program provides free access to studios, mentoring and the opportunity to work alongside some of Australia’s leading music creators.

4000 Talents offers two creatives a one-month stay each at 4000 Studios in Meanjin/ Brisbane, with:

• One-month access to a fully equipped music production studio
• Mentoring with 4000 Studios residents
• Professional assets including photo and video documentation of your residency

The goal of 4000 Talents is to help lay the foundation of sustainable music careers, to boost diversity and collaboration amongst the community, and to tell compelling stories that inspire others to pursue creative careers. It is specifically aimed at outstanding creatives that can act as role models for underrepresented and disadvantaged communities in popular music.

The program is hosted at 4000 Studios, Australia’s largest independent music studio complex and home to some of Australia’s leading creatives.

Producer Bonnie Knight was awarded the residency in 2022. She says of the experience: "It was great to join the 4000 community for my residency. Everyone is so nice and supportive and it was great to spend some time working out of such a collaborative and lovely space."

Applications open 29 January 2024, 9:00AM AEDT and close 12 February 2024, 11:59PM AEDT.

Applications are open Australia-wide. Please note, travel and accommodation costs are the responsibility of the successful applicants. Recipients will be determined by 4000 Studios’ Decision Board, with the successful applicants announced on 20 February 2024. Residencies will take place on 1 - 26 April and 29 April - 24 May 2024.
