Congratulations to Josh Beattie, Sartika and Tejo D’Cruz (performance name The Glamour), who have been selected for the 4000 Talents residency.

In partnership with 4000 Studios, the program offers one-month studio residencies for diverse music creators at the Brisbane/Meanjin-based facility.

Participants will have access to a fully equipped studio, mentoring and creation of professional assets.

We are delighted to announce that Josh Beattie, Sartika and Tejo D’Cruz, who performs as The Glamour have been announced as the 2024 4000 Talents participants. They were selected from a talented pool of applicants representing diverse and underrepresented music creators.

Each will have free access to studios, mentoring, and the opportunity to work alongside some of Australia’s leading music creators.

Okinawa-born songwriter and producer Josh Beattie works in pop, indie, folk and electronic music. Beattie was nominated for ‘Producer of the Year’ at the 2023 Gold Coast Music Awards.

From Josh: “I’m super grateful to be a future 4000 resident. The opportunity for mentorship and community is invaluable and I can’t wait to be inspired and challenged by it all. I appreciate APRA AMCOS and 4000 Studios for putting this program in place; they are making an important difference in our music scene.”

Artist, singer/songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and DJ Sartika hails from Indonesia. She’s involved in various Meanjin collectives (Shoku, Accomplice Collective, Chicks & Decks), and has performed and headlined at BrisAsia 2023 and Wild Jasmine Festival 2022, to name a few.

From Sartika: "I can’t wait to work at 4000 Studios with state-of-the-art equipment and be surrounded by a community of passionate and diverse artists. I’m so excited to dive into my craft and create music that channels my Indonesian heritage, hopefully adding a unique flavour to Australian music and resonating with the world. Thank you so much, APRA AMCOS and 4000 Studios, for the opportunity!"

Tejo D’Cruz is a recording artist whose soul/grunge project The Glamour explores self-worth and identity as a diasporic South-Asian person. D’Cruz is currently studying a Masters of Music Therapy with the aim of working with marginalised communities.

From Tejo: "For the first time in a long time, I feel true faith and excitement from the support I've received by being accepted into 4000 Talents. To have support from experienced producers and mentors is special. I feel like my grind is finally being acknowledged and I can breathe. I look forward to creating a body of work that explores music as therapy while continuing to pursue my unique sound.”

Opened in March 2022, 4000 Studios is a Meanjin-based music studio complex that aims to be Brisbane’s breeding ground for new talent, lay a foundation for sustainable careers, and boost diversity in music.

Producer, songwriter and 4000 Studios co-founder Dominik Felsmann says: “We were blown away by the sheer amount and quality of applications we received for 4000 Talents this year. Australia has so many creatives making amazing music, telling inspiring stories, and investing in making the scene more welcoming, safe and inclusive. A whole-hearted congratulations to our participants Sartika, Tejo and Josh - we're very excited to have you at 4000 Studios. We're also extremely grateful for APRA AMCOS' support – not only for helping us to bring this important initiative alive but for adding a third residency spot in this year’s program after a tie in votes. And finally, as always, a big thank you to our Decision Board - Elle Graham, Evan Ho Tak Kuo, Tia Gostelow, and Maggie Collins - who have helped us pick our finalists."
