APRA AMCOS is excited to announce a partnership with Greater Western Sydney music and technology festival SOUND WEST, being held 20 August - 28 August 2022 in Parramatta.

The partnership will see hip hop artist and APRA AMCOS Ambassador L-FRESH The LION curating songwriting residency SongHubs The Tower; an industry live showcase featuring SongHubs talent and local artists; and delivering a keynote as part of the SOUND WEST program.

As the curator of the four-day songwriting intensive SongHubs The Tower @ SOUND WEST, L-FRESH will select applicants from Western Sydney, nationally and from New Zealand to collaborate on new commercially-viable songs.

As the flagship SongHubs session, 'The Tower' is the biggest of the year, traditionally taking place in inner-city Sydney. The Tower @ SOUND WEST brings the songwriting, producing and recording sessions to Western Sydney for the first time. From 23 August - 26 August, the VIP boxes at Parramatta's CommBank Stadium will be converted into world-class recording studios.

L-FRESH will be joined by extra special guest SickDrumz, who has produced and composed for global superstars Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Future, Britney Spears and many more. His work on Rihanna's billion-streaming hit 'Needed Me' saw him honoured with a place on APRA AMCOS' The 1,000,000,000 List. They will be joined by APRA AMCOS special guests; A.GIRL, Adit Gauchan, Dallas Woods, Nardean and Vayne.

"I'm excited to be curating this APRA AMCOS SongHubs edition which is being delivered in partnership with SOUND WEST. I consider it a great honour to be able to showcase some of the best talent Western Sydney has to offer," said L-FRESH.

"This SongHubs will bring together artists and producers from across the region and the country for four days of songwriting and collaboration plus an opportunity for the artists to showcase at The Live Stage during SOUND WEST 2022."

Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said this addition to the SOUND WEST program highlights the incredible talent of the Western Sydney’s arts and entertainment industry.

"The NSW Government is proud to support the inclusion of APRA AMCOS SongHubs to the SOUND WEST program. This will provide aspiring local Western Sydney talent with a fantastic opportunity to engage with and learn from their favourite artists and industry experts.”

"The arts and entertainment industry is so important to the NSW visitor economy and we are committed to providing more opportunities for our local musicians to showcase their work after such a tough couple of years due to the COVID-19 pandemic," said Mr. Ayers.

"Greater Western Sydney is a territory rich with talent, influenced by many cultures with storytelling at the heart. We look forward to discovering and developing that talent through songwriter initiatives at SOUND WEST," said Dean Ormston, Chief Executive, APRA AMCOS.

Since SongHubs launched in 2013, over 1,000 songs have been produced, earning $3.8 million in performance royalties for the initiative's collaborators. SongHubs has produced commercial releases for the likes of Briggs, Troye Sivan, Tayla Parx, Morgan Evans, Client Liaison, Peking Duk, Tkay Maidza, Ainslie Wills, The Chainsmokers, Guy Sebastian, Ecca Vandal, Kate Miller-Heidke and many more.
