The 2024 King's Birthday Honours List recognised three APRA AMCOS members for their services to the arts.
Comedian and ABC Kids personality Jimmy Rees was honoured with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).
Powderfinger bass guitarist John 'JC' Collins was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for "significant service to the arts through music, and to the community." He is co-owner of Brisbane's The Triffid and Fortitude Valley Music Hall, two venues that champion local artists. In an interview with the ABC, JC said, "I hope people keep being involved in seeing young bands and music because that is the future." He also sits on the board of QMusic.
Composer and festival director Sir Jonathan Mills has received the highest King's Birthday Honour - a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC), along with five other Australians. Mills was recognised for "eminent service to international cultural leadership and diplomacy, to the performing arts, to philanthropic ventures and to tertiary education."
Champions of music creators were also honoured including Tamworth's Catherine Nugent, for service to country music, including as GM for the Country Music Association of Australia, and ArtsHub Performing Arts editor Richard Watts was honoured for his services to the arts and the Victorian community.
