SongCraft workshop session 1 June with Maple Glider (left) and Tom Iansek (right)

Want to learn the process that a hit single goes through from start to finish? Join us for our upcoming SongCraft session with singer-songwriters Maple Glider (Tori Zietsch) and Tom Iansek.

Maple Glider is the project of singer-songwriter Tori Zietsch. Striking emotionality is at the centre of her performance, leaning into an intimacy that is achieved by way of deeply personal reflections and velvety melodic compositions. Her music has attracted over 7M streams; she’s got fans at NPR Music, Stereogum, Paste, KCRW, Gorilla vs Bear, Consequence, Pitchfork, triple j, double j, NME and Rolling Stone; has been playlisted on radio in Australia, NZ, the USA and France; and sold out her debut headline show in Melbourne.

Tom Iansek is a prolific songwriter, performer and producer. His solo project #1 Dads, represents his direct lyricism, gentle melodies and sparse instrumentation make for homely yet sophisticated pop songs, that have seen him become an unassuming cult favourite in his home country. Iansek is also one half of Big Scary and No Mono, and has also produced albums for many Australian artists, including Hockey Dad, Airling and The Paper Kites.

For this masterclass, the duo will be doing a 'deep dive' into one of Maple Glider's hit singles which they wrote together; 'Swimming.' The session will dissect the detailed aspects of the songwriting and production process, including initial concepts, end goals and creative processes, and analyse WIPs and demos leading all the way up to the finished product.
