Opportunity to host a two-day songwriting program for students in years 10-12

Open to all Victorian government high schools for 2025

Expressions of Interest are now open to high schools in Victoria to take part in the 2025 SongMakers collaborative songwriting program.

Run by APRA AMCOS and funded by Creative Victoria, the two-day program gives students in years 10-12 with a passion for music the chance to compose and record original music with highly acclaimed artist and producer mentors.

Participants gain an insight into the workings of the music business, while being mentored by industry heavyweights including Alice Ivy, Joel Ma and Ninajirachi.

Since launching in 2013, the program has taught over 5,000 young people and their teachers at more than 280 high schools nationally and created more than 1,000 original songs. Famous alumni include Taka Perry, Tean Jesus and the Jean Teasers and Tia Gostelow.

Victorian government schools can apply now for a SongMakers program to come to their school at any time in 2025 and applications will be considered on a rolling basis throughout the calendar year.

Al Parkinson, Victorian Manager, SongMakers, explains: “Songmakers is an excellent opportunity for any high school music program. It empowers students to tap into their creativity while cultivating their musical talents and collaboration skills. We invite all high schools in Victoria that are interested to apply now to experience the incredible positive outcomes this program brings not just to students, but also to teachers and the entire school community”

Applications are open now to Victorian government schools until Friday 6 December 2024.
