Original songwriting takes centre stage at Songwriters @ The Rocks, part of the Sydney Solstice event series.

Entries are now open for the chance to perform at a variety of showcases on Friday 18 June & Saturday 19 June across venues in The Rocks. A finale on Sunday 20 June at First Fleet Park will feature four finalists, along with performances by Phil Jamieson, Boo Seeka and Tia Gostelow.

Songwriters @ The Rocks aims to nurture, promote and provide upcoming singer-songwriters a unique opportunity to showcase their talent and to gain industry and public exposure.

Singer-songwriters over the age of 16, signed or unsigned are encouraged to enter. You must be a permanent resident of NSW.

For the winning singer-songwriters, the program will offer a range of music-related prizes:

The Grove Studios Academy - 1 day Studio 1 - 1 day Engineer - 1 x Mix (total value $2800)
White Sky Accounting - Royalty / Artist Accounting consult + Tour Tracks tour budgeting software subscription ($2000)
Afends wardrobe ($500)

How does it work?

Online Songwriters competition: Running for a two-week period, open from 25 May – 7 June 2021
Semi-finalists will be notified via phone call and posted on therocks.com
Judging: A handpicked selection of the local music industry’s biggest names will be roaming The Rocks to judge each performance:

Songwriters @ The Rocks showcases: Forty small-scale events, showcasing contestants within a variety of settings across The Rocks will take place over two days Friday 18 and Saturday 19 June 2021. Industry judges will move between locations to review and watch contestants.
Songwriters @ The Rocks Finale: The top four finalists (as determined through the showcase performances) will perform two songs each on Sunday 20 June at First Fleet Park. They will be judged by a team of industry professionals and share the stage with headliners.
