APRA AMCOS welcomes Sound NSW’s investment in industry development and education for Australian songwriters and composers, with the latest round of funding just announced.
The investment will allow the nation’s largest music industry body to provide a wider suite of training and development opportunities for emerging and established songwriters through programs including SongHubs and The Regional Sessions over the next 12 months.
Dean Ormston, CEO of APRA AMCOS, explains: “This year, we’re celebrating SongHubs’ 10th birthday, as well as the 100th SongHubs camp. The program has seen some of the world’s most sought-after songwriters, artists and producers collaborate with Australia’s own world-class music talent to generate some incredible new music. This latest investment gives us greater scope to expand the program and create even more opportunities for music creators in NSW.
“We also welcome the commitment to celebrate and amplify songwriters in regional NSW through investment in The Regional Sessions program. The Regional Sessions delivers unparalleled access to top music creators, giving attendees valuable skills and inspiration to improve their songwriting craft. This support is critical for growing a strong and sustainable music scene, and we applaud Sound NSW’s commitment to nurturing the best talent in this state.”
The funding will also include additional programming for the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Music Office (NATSIMO).
Leah Flanagan, Director of NATISMO, adds: “We warmly welcome this new funding and look forward to delivering a range of programs to facilitate creative and professional development for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musicians and music workers across regional NSW.”
