ELECTION STATEMENT
I decided to step down from the APRA board after nine years and run for the AMCOS Board in 2024. With the increasing emphasis on mechanical royalties in licensing negotiations and the necessity for creators to maximise their various income streams I believe it’s important to have writer representation on the AMCOS Board (a global outlier in this respect).
Admittedly there is much for me to learn about the mechanical side of the industry but coming from the APRA Board I will not be a complete novice. I hope to bring a writers perspective to the boardroom and continue in good faith to work representing the views of creators, helping to facilitate opportunities for all sectors of our music community.

ELECTION STATEMENT
It’s important the board has a blend of unique perspectives and a diversity in skills. I will continue to fill in the board’s skills matrix, bringing specialised knowledge in finance, regulatory issues and reporting, as well as experience working with technology and crunching data. It is becoming more important to make sure those gaps are filled as AMCOS continues its growth trajectory with numbers each year being bigger than the last.
There are ongoing challenges AMCOS faces in its current environment, and those challenges (such as AI) are increasingly technology focused. With respect to AI and other tech matters, having written and distributed programs and apps personally in the past I have experience that helps understand the processes and how they relate to copyright issues and more importantly the opportunities presented.
I am committed to the mutual interests both writers and publishers of all sizes have in the performance of AMCOS. We all share in the success, so it’s important that we work together in a considered approach to protect and maximise the value of copyright in our region.

Ultimately, I strive to contribute to the ever-changing music industry and the challenges that face us.
