Whether you’re filming a wedding, birthday party, family gathering, amateur concert or community sporting event, this licence has you covered. It also covers you to digitise your clients’ own home movies.

The Domestic Use Video Licence caters to every size of business – from sole traders to larger production companies. Your licence fee is based on the number of Customers per year.

Songwriters, composers, music publishers and record labels have certain rights under Australian copyright law when it comes to how their music is used by other people. This includes when their music is captured in a video of an event or added to a video in post-production, and when those videos are shared with others.
To use copyright protected music in these ways, a licence is typically required from the copyright owners of the song and the sound recording.
APRA, AMCOS and ARIA are the organisations in Australia that represent musical works, lyrics, and sound recordings.
Collectively, APRA, AMCOS and ARIA have agreements with over 180,000 local music publishers, songwriters, record labels and recording artists.
Through rights given to us by our local and global affiliates, we license the vast majority of the world’s repertoire of musical works and commercial sound recordings.
Does the licence cover my business to post videos on social media?
No, this licence does not cover your business to upload videos containing music to social media platforms, even if only accessible to your clients via a private link. Additional permission from copyright holder(s) is generally required.
Under this licence, how many copies of a video can I make to share with my clients?
If you are making physical copies of videos (eg. DVD or USB), you can provide up to 500 copies of each video under this licence.
Can I use videos on my website to promote my work to the general public?
You’ll need additional licensing from APRA AMCOS if you want to make videos containing music publicly available on a website. You may also need to secure synchronisation rights from the copyright holders(s).
Does this licence cover format-shifting of commercially released videos?
No, this licence only covers your business to digitise your clients’ privately owned home movies.
