Nominations now open for 2025 Art Music Awards

Media Published Wednesday 29 January 2025

Nominations are open now until 5pm (AEDT) Wednesday 26 February

Members are encouraged to nominate their peers for their achievements across a range of categories and genres

APRA AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre (AMC) are rallying members to celebrate stand-out Australian art music makers, leaders, works and performances with nominations to the 2025 Art Music Awards.

Returning in 2025, the Art Music Awards provide a platform to unite and celebrate the national art music community, inclusive of creators and collaborators in contemporary music, jazz, improvised music, experimental music and sound art.

The awards honour excellence and impactful achievements in the composition, performance, education and presentation of art music, as well as the passionate people behind it all.

APRA AMCOS and AMC invite their members to put forward online nominations in support of art music pioneers who have made waves through performance, new work (including digital performance, broadcast or commercial release) or other musical ventures. Finalists and winners are selected from nominations by industry peers and audience members alike.

Nominations are welcome across 14 categories for works, performances and projects from 2024.

The Art Music Awards also spotlight trailblazers of Australian art music, giving an ovation to individuals and organisations who have made a long-lasting impact within each state and territory, as well as nationally. Awards for music education and music in regional areas also highlight the power of music to inspire, connect and build strong communities.

Previous winners include James Ledger, Liza Lim, Matthias Schack-Arnott, Nat Bartsch and organisations such as Camerata-Queensland's Chamber Orchestra, Moorambilla Voices and Omega Ensemble.

2024 winner of Work of the Year: Chamber Music, composer Kate Milligan (WA), says: “The Art Music Awards are a brilliant celebration of new music in Australia. Having my work recognised by so many respected colleagues and friends has been a career highlight. I encourage everyone to nominate—peer support makes the world go around!”

AMC CEO, Catherine Haridy, adds: “In the AMC’s 50th year, we are proud and honoured to work with APRA AMCOS to support the Art Music Awards. We are privileged to be a part of the ecosystem which supports beautiful, challenging, and progressive music from our Australian music community reflecting our stories and our unique experiences. Australian creators continue to make their indelible mark on a global scale with tenacity and verve. We encourage everyone to consider nominating an artist, a composition, a performance, or an organisation for the Art Music Awards, so we can shine a light on those who engage, inspire, and move us."

The 2025 Art Music Awards will take place in Sydney in August. Event details to come.

Nominations close at 5pm (AEDT) Wednesday 26 February.
