Joel Little has claimed his second spot on The 1,000,000,000 List with Imagine Dragon’s single ‘Whatever It Takes’

Joel received the award at the Global APRA Music Awards in Los Angeles, where he also took home the Overseas Recognition Award

There's no doubt that New Zealand songwriter and producer Joel Little is a go-to songwriter and producer for the biggest names in pop. Collaborations with Lorde introduced him to the world, and the world has come knocking, including pop masters Imagine Dragons. Joel co-wrote their hit 'Whatever It Takes,' and received his award and place on The 1,000,000,000 List for its billion streams success at the Global APRA Music Awards Los Angeles (26 February).

‘Whatever It Takes’ was released in May 2017, and co-written by Joel with Dan Reynolds, Wayne Sermon, Ben McKee and Daniel Platzman. It was a single from band’s third studio album, and the theme song for WWE’s PPC event Battleground, as well as featuring in the video game Madden NFL 18.

Imagine Dragons performed their successful single on Late Night with Seth Meyers and in their hometown of Las Vegas before the Stanley Cup Finals game in May 2018.

The single peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum in nine regions and double platinium in the US.

Damian Trotter, MD of Sony/ATV Music Publishing Australia, accepted the publisher's award and was there to congratulate Joel.

The 1,000,000,000 List takes into account streaming numbers from major services Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. It is the first award of its kind to recognise a songwriter’s achievement.
