A big congratulations to the APRA AMCOS members who were recognised this week for their ongoing service to the arts, music, education and the broader community, receiving Order of Australia Honours.
Iconic singer, songwriter and actress Delta Goodrem was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her significant service to the not-for-profit sector, and to the performing arts. She has received numerous nominations for APRA Music Awards over the years, and won the Breakthrough Award in the 2004 instalment of the awards. Delta shared on her Instagram page what being honoured with the Award meant to her: "I am deeply humbled to receive an Order of Australia AM honour and reflect today with so much gratitude...I continue to be inspired through my music and the @deltagoodremfoundation that serves to touch lives and inspire hearts as a force for good. I am a deeply proud Australian and this honour means the world to me..." - Delta Goodrem (full post here).
Virtuosic classical percussionist Claire Edwardes, Artistic Director of Ensemble Offspring and performer with many of Australia's orchestras, was honoured with a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her service to music. In the past, she has also won three APRA Art Music Awards for excellence by an individual- in 2007, 2012 and 2016. Claire’s stellar career spans over 20 years of performing, commissioning, collaborating and championing new music both in Australia and Europe.
We'd also like to celebrate Australian of the Year Award winner Dylan Alcott, who was named 2022 Australian of the Year for his ongoing For distinguished service to paralympic sport, and to the community through a range of organisations. Dylan is the creator of Ability Fest, Australia's first and only completely inclusive, fully accessible music festival.
