In 2025, APRA AMCOS’ RESONATE programs expanded, creating a suite of programs aimed at furthering the plethora of skills and interests of its Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander membership.
This development saw the first iterations of three new RESONATE offerings: RESONATE Production Music; RESONATE Producers; and RESONATE Screen Music.

This is in additional to the cornerstone RESONATE program and RESONATE Country, which took place in June and January respectively.

RESONATE Production Music

Resonate Production Music was 4-day professional development program at 4000 Studios, Brisbane, for mid-career producers and composers. Taking place in August, the program focused on creating employment opportunities in the production music industry, teaching participants to write to brief, create music libraries, and connect with companies seeking Indigenous-specific production music suppliers.

Participants were mentored by composer Raf Mikolajczyk and music supervisor Tyler McLoughlin. Participants for the first instalment of RESONATE Production Music included Ellatronix (Thalia Skopellos), Amelia Thompson (THOM) and Blake Rhodes (MR RHODES).

RESONATE Producers

In October, a curated group of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander producers participated in a three-day professional development program, RESONATE Producers, at 4000 Studios in Meanjin/Brisbane. Participants engaged in bespoke skill-based learning, facilitated by three industry leading producer/engineers. The program aimed to empower producers to achieve excellence, build industry relationships and become world-class leaders in the field.

APRA AMCOS partnered with the Music Producer & Engineers’ Guild (MPEG) for the delivery of this program, giving participants insight into industry-standard practices and access to valuable community resources.

Participants were Candice Lorrae, Connor McLeod (Hylander), and Moss McGregor (MOSS). Mentors were Rob Amoruso, Annika Schmarsel (Alice Ivy), and Dean Tuza.

 RESONATE Screen Music

In 2025, the decision was made to transform the NATSIMO Screen Composer Intensive into RESONATE Screen Music, a five-day intensive program focused on creating new works for the screen. RESONATE Screen Music tackles the need for more Indigenous composers in the Australian Screen Industry, building on the success of initiatives that have nurtured Indigenous writers, directors, cinematographers, and actors. The program is dedicated to investing in the skills development of Indigenous composers, aiming to raise the profile of the skilled cohort of Indigenous composers prepared for work in the screen industry.

Participants Brendon Boney, Naretha Williams and Glen Hunt were mentored by screen composer David Bridie and composer/orchestrator Jessica Wells at Church Street Studios in Sydney.

Thank you and congratulations to all our participants and mentors for making 2025 such a success! We look forward to 2026 and the future RESONATE programs. Stay tuned!
