Nominees and hosts announced for 2025 Screen Music Awards
Adam Gock, Antony Partos, Cassie To, Dinesh Wicks, Jed Kurzel and Mitch Stewart lead with three nominations each

The awards head to Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall for the first time on Tuesday 28 October
APRA AMCOS and the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC) have announced the nominees for 13 categories ahead of the 2025 Screen Music Awards.
Heading to Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall for the first time on Tuesday 28 October, the annual Screen Music Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in screen composition across 16 categories, recognising outstanding contributions in short film, television series, documentaries, children’s programming, feature films and more.
Leading the way with three nominations is screen music royalty, Antony Partos, for HBO Max – Best Music for an Advertisement; Deeper – Best Music for a Documentary; and Return to Paradise, alongside Jackson Milas, for Best Music for a Television Comedy.
Multi-award winner, Jed Kurzel, is also up for three awards for Narrow Road to the Deep North - Best Music for a Television Drama; The Order – Best Soundtrack Album; and Tornado for Feature Film Score of the Year, an award he has won three times already.
They sit alongside screen composing powerhouses Adam Gock, Cassie To, Dinesh Wicks and Mitch Stewart who are also up for three awards each for LEGO Monkie Kid: ‘Harbinger’ - Best Music for Children’s Programming; Portrait of a Postman – Best Music for a Documentary; and Million Dollar Secret for Best Music for Unscripted & Reality Television Series.
Following closely behind with two nominations each are Caitlin Yeo, Cornel Wilczek, David Bruggeman, Jackson Milas, James Mountain, Luna Pan and this year’s APRA Professional Development Award winner for Screen Composition, Samuel Marks.
It wouldn’t be the Screen Music Awards without a nod to Bluey, and this year is no exception, with Bluey: Rug Island being nominated for Best Soundtrack Album, composed by the multi-award winning Joff Bush and featuring co-composers King Stingray on first single “Octopus”, Lachlan Nicholson on “Cricket” and Steven Peach on “Explorers”.
In the Emerging Screen Composer of the Year category, the spotlight shines on rising stars Ayda Akbal, James Mountain and Luna Pan (all two-time nominees), and first-time nominee Felix Wallis.
Hosting the 2025 awards will be icon of Australian stage and screen, David Wenham AM, joined by multi-talented actor, writer and composer, Mark Coles Smith, and fellow guest presenter Nathalie Morris from the Logie and AACTA-nominated hit Bump. Returning again as Music Director is Erkki Veltheim, who will lead a live orchestra performing selections from nominated works, bringing the screen to life on stage.
The Distinguished Services to Australian Screen recipient, nominated by the APRA Board, will be announced in early October. The winners of Most Performed Screen Composer – Australia and Most Performed Screen Composer – Overseas will be revealed on the night.
