Expressions of Interest are now open to high schools to apply to be part of the SongMakers program in 2026. Apply now to be one of our nationally-selected schools.

Run by APRA AMCOS with additional support from Sound NSW and Creative Victoria, the two-day program gives high school students with a passion for songwriting the chance to co-write and record original music with highly acclaimed artist and producer mentors.

The program uses the mentored creation of new songs to take young people behind the scenes in the music industry while also modelling transferrable skills like working in teams, pushing through comfort zones, working to deadlines, and being enterprising.

Participants will be mentored by industry heavyweights including Alice Ivy, NinajirachiJoel MaDobbyKLPJazz D'Arcy (Bluey) and Hope D.

Since launching in 2013, the program has worked with over 5,000 young people and their teachers at more than 300 high schools nationally and created more than 1,500 original songs. Alumni from the SongMakers program include Chelsea WarnerChloe DaddTeen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Taka Perry and Tia Gostelow.

Government schools across Australia can apply now for a SongMakers program to come to their school at any time in 2026. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis throughout the calendar year.

"With the continued support from APRA AMCOS & Creative Victoria, as well as new funding from Sound NSW, the SongMakers program looks to be bigger and better than ever in 2026. We can't wait to receive applications from new schools around Australia and to discover even more incredible Australian songwriting talent." Katie Wighton, National Manager, SongMakers program.
