Vale Jason Walker
We were saddened to hear of the passing of New Zealand-born Australian singer-songwriter, author and musician, Jason Walker.
A respected figure in Australia's country music community, Walker built a career spanning several decades as both a recording artist and songwriter.
After moving to Sydney as a young man, he became known for his distinctive songwriting, thoughtful storytelling and deep connection to the traditions of country, folk and Americana music, first emerging on the local music scene as a member of the Sydney-based band Golden Rough.
Following that, he went on to establish a successful solo career, releasing several albums including Stranger to Someone, Ashes & Wine and the ARIA-nominated Ceiling Sun Letters.
Alongside his music career, Walker was also a respected music writer and biographer, penning a number of books including Gram Parsons: God's Own Singer and Billy Thorpe's Time on Earth.
A member of APRA AMCOS since 2010, Walker made a significant contribution to Australian music and leaves behind a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire fellow musicians and music lovers alike.
