We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of music industry veteran, Dominic “Mick” Mazzone OAM.

Mazzone began his career as an audio engineer and tour manager for renowned acts like Don Mclean, Madness, Sunnyboys, Midnight Oil and Split Enz. By 1987, he was exclusively working with Frontier Touring Company, touring with legends such as Bon Jovi, Billy Joel, REM and Billy Idol.

In 1989, he founded Mighty Management, representing artists like Ian Moss and The Radiators, and later established M Records. Mazzone was a founding member of the Australian Music Managers Forum and continued to tour with iconic bands throughout the ‘90s.

Since 2000, he served as the Technical Director and Production Manager for our annual APRA, Art and Screen Music Awards, for which his input was immeasurable. His charitable work was equally impressive, coordinating several music industry events including the Golden Stave Lunch and Support Act’s Music In The House fundraising event, as well as children's charities like Cure Our Kids.

Most recently, Mazzone took on the management of the Hoodoo Gurus, further showcasing his enduring influence in the music industry. His dedication to the industry was recognised with an Order of Australia medal in 2018.

Jenny Morris, Chair of APRA, says: “Mick's warmth and sense of humour were legendary among those who had the pleasure of knowing him, like we did. His genuine kindness made everyone feel welcome and valued, creating lasting memories for all who crossed his path. His contributions to the music industry and community will be deeply missed.”

Our condolences are with his family and all who knew and loved him. His reach was wide, and this devastation will be felt among many.
