A selected group of up-and-coming Australian and New Zealand songwriters and producers kicked off three days of music and sound collaboration yesterday at TikTok SongHubs at Adelaide's Wundenberg's Recording Studios. APRA AMCOS' Songhubs intensive songwriting camp is presented in partnership with TikTok and the South Australian Government's Music Development Office.

TikTok's Australian arm has invited standout South Australian talent Cahli Blakers, KANADA THE LOOP and aleksiah, along with Sydney producer and Vera Blue collaborator Dave Jenkins Jr. to work alongside 11 music creators in different groups of three each day to produce a new song by close of business.

"Partnering with TikTok for SongHubs provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for APRA AMCOS members, made possible with the ongoing support of the South Australian Government's Music Development Office," said Adam Townsend, APRA AMCOS' Director, Writer Services.

"The finished songs will be heard first by TikTok's creative team with the very real potential to be fast-tracked and profiled on the world's number 1 music discovery and promotion platform."

With an emphasis on shining a light on local talent, five more South Australian participants were selected through SongHub's open application call out, they are: Nathan Hui-Yi, DIVEBAR YOUTH, LOS LEO, David Turley and electronic and dance music producer Stace Cadet. Traveling to Adelaide from around Australia are Miss Kaninna, XANU, James Guido and PRICIE, and from Aoetera Cassie Henderson and producer, content creator and educator known as 'The Rap Scientist' Mazbou Q.

"After the success of Screen SongHubs last year, we are thrilled to welcome back the APRA AMCOS team with new partner TikTok and support the delivery of this excellent initiative," said Minister for Arts, the Hon. Andrea Michaels MP.

"All participants, including our eight South Australian artists, will benefit from working closely with the creative team at TikTok, which will increase their music career opportunities today and into the future."

"Supporting emerging Australian artists is something we are proud to do at TikTok. We love to see artists collaborating on and off TikTok and we're really excited to see what comes out of the songwriting camp this year," said Ollie Wards, TikTok Australia.

Since SongHubs launched in 2013, the program has helped to generate over A$4m in performance royalties for the initiative's collaborators across its 90+ events worldwide. SongHubs has produced commercial releases for the likes of Briggs, Troye Sivan, Tayla Parx, Morgan Evans, Peking Duk, Tkay Maidza, Ainslie Wills, The Chainsmokers, Guy Sebastian, Ecca Vandal, Chaii, Kaylee Bell and many more.
