The inaugural Songwriters @ The Rocks competition crowned folk-pop artist Anna Thérèse as the winner.

Props to all of the amazing finalists: BOI, Tom Southey and Mariam Sawires.

The competition was part of Sydney Solstice, with support from The Rocks, Destination NSW and APRA AMCOS.

From a field of top notch NSW-based songwriter-performers, the self-described "bookish singer-songwriter" Anna Thérèse charmed audiences and the industry judges at the Songwriters @ The Rocks competition, which took place 18-20 June throughout the historical district as part of the Sydney Solstice program.

Following on from the first round of pub gigs on Friday and Saturday, the finale was held at First Fleet Park, showcasing the four finalists: Anna Thérèse, BOI (Anna Buckingham), Tom Southey and Mariam Sawires, with special performances by Boo Seeka and Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson.

Songwriters @ The Rocks was created to nurture, promote and provide upcoming singer-songwriters a unique opportunity to showcase their talent and to gain industry and public exposure. Performances were judged by industry tastemakers Katie Rynne (Village Sounds) Mardi Caught (The Annex), Melody Forghani (twnty three) and our very own Milly Petriella, Director Member Relations.

Along with the thrill of winning, Anna Thérèse took home a prize package worth over $15,000 including studio time and recording services at The Grove Studios Academy.
